How to Cook Rice Perfectly Every Time
Perfectly cooked rice requires the right water-to-rice ratio and cooking technique. Rinse the rice under cold water to remove excess starch. Combine rice and water (or broth) in a pot with a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18 minutes for white rice (or 45 minutes for brown rice). Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for another 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
